A lack of foresight has found this rival of ours falling foul of both the creatures and the land itself within this treacherous realm. Although his position now looks irretrievable, perhaps when he falls his old dungeon will be of some use to us?"

Caverns is the 7th level in Dungeon Keeper 2, located in Emberglow. This level is the player's introduction to lava, as well as Salamanders and Giants, both of which are immune to lava.

This level begins with immediate destruction of the rival Keeper Gormagon's Dungeon Heart, leaving the player with many rooms to claim. However, the player has to be wary as the Giants that had slain the rival Keeper still remain a threat. One will approach the player's Dungeon Heart, but fortunately four Goblins will soon arrive through the already claimed Portal even if the player does not own a Lair and/or Hatchery.

The remaining Giants will not attack your Dungeon Heart unless they are led there. The Dungeon Special for Duckshoot can be found in this level.

At the beginning of the level you should hold off on trying to build anything (except maybe a tiny lair) and focus on claiming the remains of the fallen dungeon. Use the few Goblins you get to distract the Giants so your Imps can claim the Lair and the Hatchery, allowing more creatures to enter your dungeon. While you are doing this, build a Prison so you can torture and convert the Giants when you have defeated them, as their immunity to lava and raw strength make them excellent for this level. Once you are settled, it is recommended that you use your Possession spell and possess a high leveled Giant. While possessed, use grouping (press 7) to recruit a group of many Salamanders and Giants to explore and to traverse through the level.

Remember that Wooden Bridges won't last long on lava, so it may be wise to sell those that are burnt.
