Not to be confused with Invisibility.

Cloaking,[1] or Disguise/Steal,[2][3] (alternatively Cloaking comprises Disguise and Steal) is a special ability available to Rogues and Thieves in Dungeon Keeper 2 when they're in possession. It makes them disguise themselves as enemies, enabling them to discreetly sneak into enemy territory.

To use this ability, you need to be standing on a tile belonging to the player whom you want him to pretend to belong to.[1]

The ability doesn't fool your own allies; they won't attack you.

Stealing, the separately mentioned sub ability, is when you left-click melee on enemy gold. It decloaks you. It can steal 50 gold from enemy gold pile formations, like chests, with every melee attack hit when gold is highlighted.

Tips[]

  • Doesn't work on traps and doors: traps shoot you, doors do not open.
  • Works on heroes. Even on Hero Lair. Even in the campaign. Even if there are no Keepers on the level.
  • Cloaking to one specific enemy Keeper or to heroes still keeps another specific enemy Keeper's creatures or heroes hostile. You cloak to one faction at a time. Others remain unfooled until specifically "cloaking to them".
  • Ideal for scouting out enemy territory, initiating jailbreaks, or making close-up photographs of hostile unique creatures.
  • Cloaking is an ideal way to do some Secret Door Revealing and Trap Revealing.

Trivia[]

  • The manual claims that Guards are very perceptive and can spot disguised Rogues and Thieves.[1] But this does not seem to be actually true to the game! Neither Guards nor Royal Guards will disable the Cloaking ability of Rogues or Thieves, regardless of which faction they belong to or whether they are normal converted hero unit or mercenary. This may be a feature the developers forgot to implement, or a cut feature that remains documented.
  • Your ruse will, however, be discovered you have the audacity to pinch an enemy's gold, so be discreet.[1]
  • Contrary to some belief on the internet, it does work on hero tiles.
  • It even works directly on the grounds of the enemy Dungeon Heart without making Imps hostile. Unless you attack, of course.
  • Over the years, this ability was, or may have been, misunderstood in its functional existence. Not only does it work, it also seems to work on hero tiles now. Or possibly made fully functional as a beneficial byproduct of the latest overhauled versions of the game.
