The Iron Door (known as the Steel Door in Dungeon Keeper 2) is the strongest door in terms of defence[clarification needed] in Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper 2. It is also a door type in Dungeon Keeper Online.
Dungeon Keeper[]
The Iron Door is considered the best all-purpose door, and is first available to the player in Tickle. It has the highest natural defence and takes considerable time[vague] to destroy, but also requires considerable time and a relatively large Workshop to create. The Iron Door’s decent amount[vague] of protection from damage makes it one of the most suitable defences for nearly every situation,[verification needed] and usually allows enough time for a Keeper to gather their forces before it is destroyed.
In KeeperFX, a Ghost has a special ability that allows it to pass through the door, even if it is locked.
Dungeon Keeper 2[]
Just as it is in Dungeon Keeper, the Steel Door is the strongest door your workers can manufacture. When possible, use Steel Doors to keep your dungeon fortified and protected from any would-be intruders.
Tips[]
- The strongest door you can build, in terms of defense and health combined.
- The ideal door to be worth being supplemented by traps.
- Best used on routes that lead to your Dungeon Heart where you expect invaders.
- Significantly generous with its price, all things considered.
- It may be justified to use these with Prisons in case a Jailbreak happens. Fits the aesthetic well, too.
- During a frontal assault, it might be easier to dig out one of its side walls than breaking the door down itself. Perhaps with the aid of the Tremor Spell, or a Weaken Walls rare magical item.
Trivia[]
- The only door that has a window in the middle, but it is purely cosmetic, not used for anything.
- When it first appears in the story campaign on Level 11 - Carnage - Sparklydell, enemy Keepers use this door abundantly to their benefit.
Hero Steel Door[]
In certain Campaign, Multiplayer and Skirmish maps, there will be hero fortifications guarded by their own Steel Doors. These doors look noticeably different, being of a portcullis style instead of a thick steel.
This style of Steel Door allows creatures to see through, granting tactical knowledge to players possessing one of their minions.
