Neutral Creatures are claimable minions you can find in Dungeon Keeper, and Dungeon Keeper 2.
Dungeon Keeper[]
Dungeon Keeper 2[]
You can find Neutral Creatures in every game mode!
To turn Neutral Creatures to your side, you simply need to let them or one of your own creatures approach each other. Close proximity will transform them, without any fanfare, to one of your followers. No torture conversion is needed. You can even do this while possessing the creature with whom you want to approach the neutral.
Neutral creatures need no sleep in any Lair, food from any Hatchery, or pay during any payday, just like creatures belonging to the Hero faction. They may come in varying experience levels. Sometimes you need to build specific room layouts to access their location but this is rare.
You can find them in:[]
- Semi- or fully secluded/sealed alcoves or caves you can either dig into or need to magically unlock with room combinations,
- freely roaming dirt path, water, or even lava,
- being locked in rooms you can claim,
- being tortured in a Torture Chamber,
- being locked in a Combat Pit and forced to fight until being knocked out,
- or being imprisoned in a Prison. Imprisoned neutrals are sometimes guarded by heroes.
Reaching them on some levels isn't merely a bonus award for exploration, but an outright advertised incentive to reach and claim.
Please note that Neutral Creatures are NOT the same as the possibility of freeing creatures that are already aligned towards your own faction but are trapped somewhere!

Tips[]
- Neutral Portal creatures do NOT count towards neither a Portal limit nor a room limit, unless the neutrals are either Skeletons or Vampires! This means it is extremely beneficial to get those two creatures late while possibly getting all other neutrals early.
- One logical legitimate tactic is trying to claim all neutrals on the land fast and early either to bolster forces, or to get them before the enemy does. Either A.I. Keeper, or player in a multiplayer match.
- If you don't want an extra mouth to feed, hand to pay, and body to heal, you may postpone claiming neutrals that you have previously seen in places by not going too close and not letting your explorers go there, or not opening their cave with Imps or Dwarves.
- Invisible Rogues and Thieves can claim Neutral Creatures.
Bugs[]
- Neutral Bile Demons may starve in a Prison, while they actually shouldn't, being neutral.
- Oversight: If approached imprisoned neutrals in a Prison don't get auto-claimed by proximity, you can pick up still neutral creatures with your hand and even put them in a Combat Pit or Torture Chamber. In the Pit they can actually participate in combat, receive and get damage - which is commonly agreed as something which shouldn't happen.
- If you manage to make them get killed, they fall unconscious.
Trivia[]
- A hero can never claim a neutral unit, but he can kill one.
- Some creatures are rarely or never Neutral on official levels.
- Lords, Princes, Kings, and Stone Knights never are.
- Imps are only neutral on one.
- Hero creatures may only appear as Neutral on five Skirmish levels.
- Normal form creatures with preliminarily Elite names get sometimes introduced in the campaign in Neutral form.
- Neutral creatures do not get attacked by traps.
