Various patches for the games, both official and unofficial, have been released over the years. They improve the game by adding features and fixing bugs.
Dungeon Keeper[]
Official patch[]
The official patch was released several weeks after the game's release. It is available on Keeper Klan here, and has the following improvements:
- Improved AI[1]
- Enhanced the logic of the Computer Assistance[1]
- Creature activity algorithms have been streamlined[1]
- Rebalanced creatures[1]
- Increased security of saves[1]
Dungeon Keeper Gold and Dungeon Keeper Premium have this patch pre-applied. Dungeon Keeper Collector's Edition, however, does not.
Fan patches[]
Zuqkeo's patch[]
This unofficial patch was released in June 2008, and is available here. It has the following changes:
- Adds a Locate Hidden World special to Sleepiburgh, so Secret 5 is accessible
- Fixed locked doors in Woodly Rhyme
- In Secret 1:
- Altered some enemies after the level 8 Vampire
- Locked doors that should have been locked
- Added traps
- Added a Transfer Creature special
- Added an Imp when the level is beaten, so you can use the Transfer Creature
- Swapped Magic Doors for Iron Doors
- In Secret 5:
- Added two Increase Level specials
- Locked doors that were meant to be locked
- In Secret 6:
- Fixed mismatched level outtros (English only)
Dungeon Keeper 2[]
Official patches[]
1.51[]
This patch fixes various bugs, some of the more serious ones being:
- You no longer inherit the host's game settings when joining a DK2 Multiplayer game lobby
- Game no longer crashes on pressing Alt+Tab
- Hero Gates can be destroyed in Regicide
- Fixed a synchronisation problem pertaining to gaolbreaks
- Fixed cutscenes refusing to play on some CD drives
- Fixed creature flowers flashing when they shouldn't
- Fixed animation of creatures who'd been frozen whilst in possession
- Horny no longer gets stuck when collecting a Portal Gem
- Fixed certain Mentor lines being played incorrectly
- Imps no longer refuse to take trap crates to the blueprints
- Creatures created in the Temple no longer get stuck in the pool
- Secret levels no longer show up as level 20 on the high score screen
Other changes (list is not exhaustive):
- Added 1024x768 support
- Added A3D support
- Added several skirmish and multiplayer maps
- Added gain mana cheat
- Computer players now use the Combat Pit
- Horny is now immune to freezing
- Magic Doors immune to non-magic attacks
- Payday countdown now begins when the first creature joins your dungeon
- Disabled cheats in multiplayer
- Mistresses train more and torture themselves less
- Mentor has more silly lines
- Boulder Traps take damage when slapped
- EAX disabled by default
- Added ability to enter the level as a lost soul after losing a multiplayer match
- Dark Elves now flag when patrolling
- Creatures can now cast the Heal, Armour, and Invisibility creature spells on themselves
- Added Temple recipes involving Keeper spells
- Improved music scripting
1.61[]
This patch introduced the Elite Creatures and the ability to replay completed levels in the campaign.[4]
1.7[]
- Added the Maiden creature
- Added the Jack In The Box Trap
- Added multiplayer and Skirmish maps
- Added Environment Mapped Bump Mapping
- Added a new My Pet Dungeon level
- The game now officially supports Windows 2000
- Elite creatures are now much tougher
- Wizards no longer fall into the Temple pool
- Imps vanish when your mana reserves are depleted
- Creatures get hungry whilst in the Combat Pit
- Fixed shrinking Princes problem on Interception
- Introduced Mercenary Portals
Fan patches[]
GIM[]
The General Improvement Mod (GIM) was created by Wyrmcast and released in 2014. It is available on Keeper Klan here. There are many, many changes, but in a nutshell, the patch attempts to combine the best of versions 1.51 and 1.7.[5]
