Pray is a special ability available to Fairies and Monks when you're possessing one in Dungeon Keeper 2. It allows them to heal themselves (at a rate of 3.3 per second[1]) and any creature belonging to the same player within their range of perception. However, they're vulnerable to attack whilst they're in this state.[2] Or so says the manual.
In reality, seemingly the only creature you will be able to heal with this specific special ability, is yourself. This pretty much seems to be the loner's tool.
To perform this ability, press the hotkey, the icon will glow, your first person head camera will look at the ground imitating a sort of praying, you won't be able to look up or move (but retain the ability to turn around), and you will receive health points. To continue normal possession, press the hotkey again to get back the natural ability to look up and move again.
Tips[]
- Useful only after running away.
- Use this Pray ability when not wanting to exit possession and requiring healing. Perhaps when fooling around trying to solo tough encounters. Like soloing possible Vampire armies as a Monk. Or going on long manual exploration missions in the fog of war as a Fairy.
- If you want to heal someone else, possess a Monk and use his Heal Creature ability. If your possessed Monk is a sideline healer for a contingent of your creatures facing a relatively similar size group of foes, this Pray special ability might be the way to heal yourself if damaged while using Heal Creature to heal your friendlies.
- If you want to harass enemy forces from the flanks, on high enough experience levels the Fairy offers Lightning and Whirlwind abilities to stun and disjoint from the different sidelines. Approaching such angles may also be easier because she can fly over lava, not just traverse water tiles.
Bugs[]
- When the ability is activated, and ranged abilities selected, said selected abilities may be triggered but to no effect thereby ruining your chances casting them until they recharge and cease performing the Pray ability to effectively cast them.
Trivia[]
- You don't need this special ability in possession if there is a Hero Lair nearby with no hero or foe in sight.
- This ability is rather slow or weak.
- Pray cannot heal you faster than the speed of how fast standing in lava damages you. Not to mention you won't be able to get out while forcing yourself to stand still.
- Thus, as this ability is so weak, in heated encounters your primary defense is running away.
- The page main image here is an educated guess placeholder until the real animation can be observed (probably in multiplayer)...
- (It is his victory animation.)
