Slow is a creature spell available in Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper 2 that slows the target creature down, causing them to move and attack more slowly, putting them at a disadvantage.

Dungeon Keeper[]

"Slows down the target creature."
— Dungeon Keeper Manual

Casting the Slow spell fires a projectile that slows the target enemy creature to half their normal movement speed. The creature affected will move and attack at a slower speed and will appear with a red ring around it.

The Dungeon Keeper Goodies Disc contains wave files of Mentor dialogue that were cut from the game, one of which mentioning a 'Slubberdegullion' spell being available.[3] This is possibly this spell, or an early version of it.

In KeeperFX 1.1.0, this was made into a Keeper spell, which exists alongside the creature spell.

Dungeon Keeper 2[]

"A cunning, web-like spell that reduces the target creature’s speed, giving him or her a distinct disadvantage in combat. If the creature is currently under the Haste Creature spell, Slow nullifies its effects and returns the creature to ‘normal speed’."
— Dungeon Keeper 2 Manual

A spell unique to the Vampire, casting it fires a weblike missile towards the enemy and slows their movement and attack speeds if it hits.

Tips[]

  • Cancels Haste Self and Haste Creature.[2]
  • This doesn't do damage at all.
  • Even if circumstantial, it is theoretically a good idea to cast on enemy Blitzers, Bile Demons, Imps, and Dwarves. To make the fast slower, the slow even slower, and those who would run headfirst among your forces have less chance to do so by decreased speed.

Bugs[]

  • Target model webbing texture effect doesn't seem to appear an later versions of the game. (Maiden Poison Spit seems to work but still worth keeping an eye on.)

Trivia[]

  • Literally resembling a series of spider-web patches.
  • This ability is what makes a Vampire from level 4 to level 8 extremely easy to train.
  • Partially seems to share graphical patterns with Maiden's Web.
