Dungeon Keeper Wiki

Temporary creatures are minions which you or any faction might have within a limited timeframe in one form or another in Dungeon Keeper 2.

You cannot keep them, nor can any other faction.

Temporary creatures are pretty much an underlying game mechanic in Dungeon Keeper 2, which is not immediately evident.

Horny[]

Dungeon Keeper 2 allows one highly characteristic Horned Reaper to show up, Horny, and due to his magical nature and overpowered state, he is only present temporarily, and only to do battle. You need mana to call him, mana to sustain him while he is present, and eventually he leaves if either cannot get to any enemies or is slapped. His health flower is hidden but is immortal, and immune to, well, everything. You cannot pick him up, feed him, nor does he need a bed or wages.

At the end of campaign levels, he arrives to pick up a Portal Gem which you may have acquired. If you continue playing, and are fast enough, you can actually turn this incarnation of him into a Chicken, which is likely an oversight.

Skeleton Army[]

Skeleton Army Skeletons Dungeon Keeper 2 first-person

Skeleton Army is a normal ranged attack spell ability a level 10 Dark Angel has/gets. This ability creates three new level 1 Skeletons that temporarily appear, and may be used for various tasks. They can freely attack any foe or be grouped and sent against a foe of a possessed Dark Angel's choosing. They may decide to go train in a Training Room if they find no foe and are not grouped, which would waste your money. They cannot be picked up.

Some retail Skirmish & Multiplayer levels have hero Dark Angels. Custom levels can also be populated with such. If they are at level 10, that can mean heroes may also get temporary creatures. In the form of Skeletons.

All things considered, these temporary Skeletons are the most "normal" temporary creatures of them all.

Jack-in-the-Box[]

Dungeon Keeper 2 Jack Icon

In Skirmish and multiplayer, if match settings allow it, Keepers can place down a Jack-in-the-Box Trap. Once triggered, they become a temporary Jack-in-the-Box creature who walks to a suitable destination by his programming, just to explode (depending on how it decides by what it encounters). They cannot be picked up, need no food, pay, or Lair.

Turncoat Subjects[]

If you cast the Turncoat Spell on hostile creatures, with the exception of the Imp (which does work but is bugged), the affected creatures will temporarily fight for your side. You cannot pick them up.

Jackpot Winner[]

The Jackpot Winner, occasionally generated by a Casino, is a normal creature, which temporarily gets special attributes for the temporary duration it picks up its jackpot winnings money, which action it calls "gambling". It can be placed in locations which would otherwise be inaccessible or would have significant consequences, without the usual situation brought upon them in such placements. Its only goal is "gambling".
